13 | Happy Earth Day, West Monroe!

We’re more than happy to share today’s part of our anniversary celebration with the 52nd Earth Day! Below we touch on many green measures related to the All Company Meeting, including initiatives from our venues. Also, be sure to check out the Sustainability team’s Earth Day newsletter to learn more about the important work they and the Green Chiefs are doing, including how we support our clients on their sustainability journeys. During the ACM, stop by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) booth at the Culture Fair to play games, win prizes, and learn more from the CSR team.

West Monroe’s Green Initiatives at the ACM

Travel

  • As part of West Monroe’s commitment to carbon neutrality, all ACM travel will be included in West Monroe’s annual carbon footprint calculation and offset in full at the end of the year

  • Due to the large size of our Chicago office population, we were able to work with United Airlines to better accommodate our travel from Chicago to the ACM by swapping out smaller, older, less efficient planes (EMB ERJ-175’s) for a newer, larger fleet (specifically, a 737 Max 9 and an Airbus A319). A Max 9 gets 103mpg/passenger vs. an ERJ that gets 59.3mpg/passenger.

Sustainable Swag

  • Attendees (even those joining remotely) will receive reusable water bottles to use throughout the event. The Convention Center has several water bottle filling stations.

  • The notebooks included in everyone’s swag bags are made from recycled paper

Catering

  • We’ll have green meeting setups for our breakout sessions (e.g., accessible recycling bins, sustainable linens on tables)

  • In collaboration with our catering vendor at the Convention Center, the disposable products are biodegradable and made from bamboo, palm, and other recycled materials

  • Our catering vendor will donate all remaining food from convention meals (within established health codes and guidelines) to local food banks

  • We will be recycling or reusing acceptable items such as cardboard, polyurethane foam, wooden pallets, scrap metal, paper, glass, plastic, and aluminum at the Convention Center through the help of our catering vendor
